Dublin and Scotland

So much has happened! I'm update quickly...Dublin was fun but basically just a city. We enjoyed the readily flowing Guinness (of course) and some other sights in Dublin, including the Book of Kells and the National Gallery. We flew to Scotland a few days ago, met our friend Chris, and immediately drove to Edinburgh. I really liked Edinburgh - has a wonderful feeling of an old town, and the castle is of course breathtaking - and really, the city just didn't have that city-ish of a feel.

Our second day in Scotland, we took a morning tour of Ediburgh then busted out to St. Andrews. THis was a BEAUTIFUL town by the sea. We really liked playing in the water and checking out the ruins and the university there. No Prince WIlliam spottings though...alas...we camped out near Edinburgh that night. Yesterday we went to Stirling and saw the William Wallace monument (testament to Scottish freedom) and the Robert the Bruce Monument. Then we went to Doune castle, where Monty Python and the Holy Grail was filmed...and YES they let us run around the castle clapping coconuts. It was AMAZINNNNG. We drove to Fort William and camped out at the base of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Scotland.

This morning we wandered around the woods at the base of Ben Nevis, then drove to the Isle of Skye, where we're staying tonight. The latitude is the same as Copenhagen, so we're REALLY north - it was still light at midnight last night, really beautiful. We found our hostel then found a hike - really beautiful, craggy mountains and of course, a lot of mud. My shoes will never be the same.

Right now we're headed towards bed - at least I am - after our pretty serious hike. Definitely a great time in Scotland so far....
